Day 2 – Defining Joy…

The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines Joy as “a feeling of great happiness,” or “a source or cause of great happiness, something or someone that gives joy to someone.” However, deep in my heart, I know there’s more to having  Joy! than just being happy… It’s not something that turns off and on… Happy, Sad, Happy, Sad, Happy, Sad … depending on how my day is going.

So I went looking for another definition and found one that
better explains the kind of Joy! that this 31 Days Project is all about…

Joy is a state of mind and an orientation of the heart. It is a settled state of contentment, confidence and hope. It is something or someone that provides a source of happiness. Christians should always find reasons to be joyful. There are many ways to define joy. Joy isn’t just a smile or a laugh. Joy is something that is deep within and doesn’t leave quickly. When we have the joy of the Lord, we’ll know it and so will others. Since joy is given by God and something that He wants us to have, we need to be joyful!

So that’s the direction we’re heading here…

These first few posts, we’ll just be looking at Joy!

…getting a clear idea of what Joy! is…

…and planting that idea in our heads and our hearts.
